Blockbuster Strategy Group was formed in 2002 to provide market research and strategic consulting support to pharmaceutical companies and their product teams.

The two founding partners (Bob Biletch and Kirk Grosel) met at Mercer Management Consulting, where Kirk led the Global Pharmaceutical practice and Bob led the Global Pharmaceutical Customer Sciences group. The two founding partners each have 20 years of experience in consulting, market research, and pharmaceuticals.

Blockbuster Strategy Group is located in Boston, MA, with research partners located throughout the world.

Our principals

Bob Biletch, President and a founding partner of Blockbuster Strategy Group, has 25 years of experience in strategy consulting and marketing research, including positions as a partner in Mercer Management Consulting's healthcare practice, and a Senior Research Director and Director of Analysis at both Eidetics and Opinion Dynamics. Bob pioneered the use of quantitative case-based methodologies in the pharmaceutical industry. He holds a B.A. in statistics from Boston University and an M.S. in quantitative methods from Virginia Commonwealth University's School of Business.

Kirk Grosel, Executive Vice President, was a sales representative and a market researcher at SmithKline as well as a consultant at Mercer - together he has over 20 years of experience working in pharmaceuticals. Kirk consulted to pharmaceutical companies, health plans, PBMs, and providers for thirteen years and led the healthcare practice of Mercer Management Consulting. Kirk holds an A.B. from the University of Michigan and concentrated in marketing during his M.B.A. from The Wharton School.

Ray Tien, Senior Associate, has eight years of experience in pharmaceutical marketing research and consulting, and has led a broad array of quantitative and qualitative projects, including market opportunity assessments, messaging / positioning optimization, pricing strategy, and segmentation. Prior to joining the Blockbuster Strategy Group, Ray was a Research Manager with the Decision Modeling Group at Eidetics. He holds a B.S. in biological sciences from Stanford University

Cynthia Boyd, Senior Consultant, has 20 years of consulting and marketing research experience and has expertise in many analytical and statistical modeling methods. Prior to joining Blockbuster Strategy Group, Cynthia was Principal Consultant at KEMA, an energy management consulting firm, and Director of Analysis at Opinion Dynamics Corporation. She holds a Master of Arts degree in statistics from the University of California at Berkeley and a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Tufts University.

Our staff and partners

Several additional individuals with experience in conducting interviews with physicians, pharmacists, other providers, consumers, family members / care-givers, and payors and with experience in qualitative / quantitative analysis work for our firm. We can also use the knowledge and expertise of our Medical Director, a physician who also teaches, conducts research, and provides patient care at a prestigious academic medical center.

We work with fielding agencies across the world and have conducted research in all major markets (US, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, and UK) as well as in other markets, such as Australia, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, South Korea, and Taiwan.
